Raised in the Washington Cascades, the Marine Corps changed my worldview, where international travel opened my perspective to continual growth. Physical discipline and military acumen changed to broadening my mind to the adjacent possible.Transplanted to Austin in 2008 to knock out school, and like most, I never left. Finance degree in hand led to inevitably finding my passion in a different field, Marketing. After seeing how much impact this specialization has on a business, I have grown in various roles since 2015.My professional growth within Marketing is focused, but not exclusive in two areas:Qualitative - I conceptualize the value exchange utilizing the Value Proposition Canvas. This model requires knowing the business intimately; a deep dive into the why and how of the business solution. On the other side, the Customer, with the economic foundation of unlimited wants, and limited resources.Quantitative - Data needs to be the rationale for either pursuing a current course of action or pivoting to meet business goals. Beyond this, data models need to be scalable without swamping or detracting from your main purpose. To this point, I have been focused on data streams flowing into Google BigQuery, and how this platform can be leveraged for both optimizations and analytics. This is in conjunction with advanced Google Sheets skills for ease of ad hoc needs.I have found the key to growing my skills has been to not get too distracted by the noise. Know what is current with various Marketing channels, but don't get distracted from the foundational aspects of the discipline. This isn't all-inclusive to my available skills and experience, but where the focus is currently. I see myself growing into a role where I can either teach others to expand their skill set, manage to the same ends, or both. Learning how to or teaching others to expand in scale without losing quality is a win-win for any organization.Personally, I enjoy travel or getting out on the trails here in Austin (hiking, biking, running) or sailing; especially with my nephew, he's my bud.
