My intern project involved designing, prototyping, and testing a system to locate GPS jammers using a roadside detector. In this role I:• Successfully designed, implemented, and tested GPS Jammer Detection System prototype using Raspberry Pi, software-defined radio, GPS receiver, and RF front-end in team of two interns • Developed Linux and Python skills by creating/editing scripts for data acquisition and processing• Acquired RF, antenna design, and GPS knowledge through design and construction of jammer/receiver setup

In this role I performed a variety of electrical engineering-related tasks for the Milster Research Group, including:• Electrical design of an electronic lens mount for positioning of an objective lens via an electromagnetic actuator, along with fabrication and test of the mount• Designed and implemented system for automated spectral response characterization test of photomultiplier tubes (PMT). This involved using an Arduino microcontroller to control a stepper motor to scan a monochromator through the visible spectrum while recording the output of the PMT and feeding data back to a computer. A program was written using Python to control the scan parameters and receive the measured data while placing it in an excel file.• Acquired Python programming experience through troubleshooting and developing graphical user interface (GUI) software for control of picomotors and an air bearing spindle via RS-232 serial connection to PC

Instrumentation and Controls Intern, Corporate Services ConstructionMy intern project involved creating documentation for the removal and replacement of PLC-5 programmable logic controllers with the newer ControlLogix PLCs. During this internship I accomplished the following:• Addressed complex point reassignment process by writing VBA code to modify almost 300 IO points in database• Improved knowledge of control systems and PLCs by designing conversion from PLC-5 to ControlLogix platform• Developed CAD skills by designing panel layouts and network topologies for construction in AutoCAD

Power Systems Intern, Corporate Services ConstructionMy internship project was to find and update errors in the documentation of the factory power distribution system as well as to develop a tool to forecast future factory power needs so that appropriate infrastructure could be added. During this internship I accomplished the following:• Acquired power systems knowledge by extending automation of electrical pre-assignment process for easy alerts of expected power consumption issues throughout the duration of project ramp• Found and addressed errors in Affected Circuit Generator program and PTW database used by program• Worked with team to identify best practices and implement procedures for AZ Reuse Program inventory• Demonstrated presentation skills by giving final internship presentations to team and management

Technical Intern, Electro-Optical Product CenterMy internship project was to work with a fellow intern to identify ways to modify a test procedure for obtaining the spectral response curve of a detector so that the test could be performed more quickly. During this internship I accomplished the following: • Worked with SM3-IIA sensor integration and test team to modify test method and procedure to significantly reduce time required for spectral detector response characterization• Identified methods to allow for up to 75% reduction in test time for spectral characterization and provided team with methodology for testing and implementation of modifications• Gained clean room and hardware handling experience by assisting as test operator for sensor tests
