After spending a summer in a Chinese orphanage at age sixteen, I started a foundation to address a need. Over the following eleven years, I designed and implemented the establishment of five China Care Homes to provide over 300 financial aid grants, 400 foster placements, and over 1000 surgeries; developed and executed a fundraising strategy for a $1.5 million budget, raising a total of over $12 million; grew the organization from a solo endeavor to a team of 10 full-time employees that oversaw a child-care staff of over 200 caregivers, running a 24-hour operation; and spawned 50 clubs with thousands of members to expand our reach through playgroups, volunteer trips, and fundraising campaigns. We eventually merged China Care with One Sky, ensuring long-run sustainability.

The Issue was an answer to print media’s broken business model, as a way to generate quality content at fractions of the cost and develop a vast blog advertising network. • Led concept design, web design and programming; managed blogger outreach, PR and marketing.• Built and managed an editorial, programming and marketing team of nine people.• Merged into PBS / THIRTEEN’s world news program.
