Senior Mechanical Engineer
Current-Lead mechanical engineer on a team responsible for a multi-million dollar capital project to fully automate an ophthalmic lens manufacturing facility with responsibilities including system concept, machine design, plant layout, system integration, and project management -Design of high speed/high precision automated machinery, robotic work cells and tooling-Managed all phases of the design process for a multitude of machines, assemblies, and parts, including concept design, machine and detail design, GD&T, prototyping, testing, fabrication and assembly, installation, commissioning, and documentation-Selection and sizing of power transmission and motion control components including induction, stepper, and servo motors, gearboxes, linear and rotary actuators, industrial 6 axis and SCARA robots, industrial pneumatics and hydraulics, vacuum systems, material conveyance systems, sensors, machine vision, control, communication, safety, and power systems -System analysis and simulation for optimization of machine cycle times and sizing of components to meet performance criteria while minimizing cost-Development and deployment of control programs for Mitsubishi 6 axis and SCARA robots and Cognex machine vision systems-Integration of different machines, robot cells, and conveyance systems into a fully automated production line from raw material to palletizing of finished and packaged products-Project management including planning, timeline, budgets, vendor bidding and negotiations, scheduling, fabrication and installation supervision
