An engineer turned technology consultant turned engineer again, I co-founded niolabs, a software company focused on delivering actionable real-time insights, in 2013. At niolabs I manage the architecture, development, and engineering of the core platform and any supplemental software applications. Our stack at niolabs is, and always will be, nimble and unassuming. As a result, we work with many different software technologies and programming languages. Currently we work with Python and JavaScript most of the time.In my previous role at Deloitte Consulting I worked with several different clients in a range of industries. From state judicial systems to big box retailers, I focused the later part of my tenure there becoming an expert in software performance. This included database optimization, streamlining data migration procedures, and building robust and real-time front-end applications.I have been passionate about technology and development from a very young age. My first website was a Hardy Boys book report website in 4th grade and as much as I wish I still had it, I am legitimately scared to see what it looked like. I graduated with honors in degrees of Computer Engineering and Mathematics from UCLA in 2010 and am a proud Bruin fan for life. In my free time I like to golf, volunteer, and contribute to open source projects.

Director Of Devops And ItLoansnap Jul 2019 - Sep 2022San Francisco, California, UsI am responsible for the security, uptime, and reliability of our software systems. This means, among other things, managing cloud environments, building CI/CD pipelines, writing and shipping production code, and monitoring real-time applications. -
Co-Founder, CtoNiolabs Aug 2013 - Jul 2019I work on a variety of things with some very smart and innovative people.Back-end ThingsI am responsible for the patented architecture of our core software platform. Both the existing architecture as well as the future vision our team shares for the nio platform. We work primarily in Python 3 for our backend as well as our modular components known as blocks.Front-end ThingsWith a powerful and performant platform like nio, it is often difficult to sufficiently represent what is actually going on behind the scenes. Our team is constantly building real-time front-ends — often based on current JavaScript technologies — that solve this problem. We work with both client-side and server-side JavaScript and make use of several third-party streaming data libraries like socket.io.Infrastructure ThingsThe nio software runs on any device and any cloud. This is great for customers but can make managing and automating the infrastructure challenging. With tools like Kubernetes, Ansible, SaltStack, and Jenkins we have created DevOps pipelines and deployment methodologies that scale out to thousands of different devices, all on different hardware.Database Thingsnio is what we like to call "data ambivalent." We do not depend on a heavy data stack (or ANY data stack for that matter) in order to operate. However, we understand the value of data and think that you shouldn't be tied to any particular data architecture. As a result, we configure, deploy, and work on a wide range of databases including MongoDB, MySQL, Postgres, ElasticSearch, and Amazon DynamoDB.Other Fun ThingsBecause nio enables both developers and non-developers alike, as a company we often get the opportunity to work on fun and emerging technologies. For me, that looks something like hacking on our build server, assembling cool Slack integrations, or making open source contributions.
