charity: water is an innovative nonprofit that has brought clean drinking water to millions of people worldwide. I built software tools and platforms that helped raise and distribute funds and report back to donors so they could see exactly where their money went and the communities they served.KEY CONTRIBUTIONS* Technical lead for the 2014 September fundraising campaign, delivering a marketing site and new donation platform functionality that helped deliver clean water to 100,000 people in the Sahel region of Africa.* Built new functionality for the Java-based donor platform to support matching donations.* Built back-office tools in PHP and MySQL to facilitate better communication and data exchange between our NYC-based Program teams and partners in the field.* Built real-time analytics tools for Executive and Growth teams.* Integrated third-party systems like Box, NetSuite, Stripe and Paypal.

Enernoc develops smart grid solutions to enable large electricity consumers use less energy, contribute to the stability of the electric grid and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. I was one of the first engineers hired and helped to design and develop the foundational technologies that helped launch Enernoc to a successful IPO.KEY CONTRIBUTIONS * Led the development of Java EE-based services and MySQL database structures for the collection of energy usage data from thousands of distributed metering devices.* Responsible for architecture and implementation of automated workflow processes to orchestrate the curtailment of electricity usage across a geographically dispersed customer base.* Developed user interfaces to allow customers and operations personnel to manage and monitor energy usage and curtailment procedures.

Thoughtbot builds custom software solutions for small businesses and start-ups. We improved our customers' productivity through the analysis of their business processes and development of custom software. I co-founded the company and participated in all aspects of the software development process including proposal, requirement analysis, database analysis, architecture design, implementation, deployment, and support. I also implemented systems and processes to improve team development and participated in the day-to-day operation and management of the firm.KEY CONTRIBUTIONS* Along with my co-founders, I built and serviced a client base that started at zero in June 2003 and grew to over thirty by June 2005.* Analyzed client business processes and developed software solutions to improve their operational efficiency. * Lead a team in the development of an online parcel shipping and tracking system for a courier service. Features included web-based shipping and tracking, desktop software for receiving packages in warehouse, and mobile handset tracking software for drivers.
