About Matt Edelman π Ces
Business Accelerator. Revenue Generator. Operator of Complex Orgs. Global Deal Maker. Team Motivator. Public Company Officer. Storyteller. At heart, I am a creative business builder and been fascinated with advancements at the intersection of content and technology for more than 20 years (although I still think I'm 31 when I look in the mirror). I've founded companies, run businesses, launched products, forged partnerships, produced content, and succeeded and struggled on every platform.Iβve been involved in pioneering hits (the first X-Men movie), had wild rides (WME-IMG/Endeavor), gone public (Super League), and discovered the entrepreneurial meaning of "learning experiences."I've worked with powerful people, people who think they're powerful, and people who deserve more power. I've developed and practiced the values inherent in active and purposeful communications, strong mentorship, humble facilitation, the power of positivity, determined advocacy, and the importance of trust and delegation within a team.Through it all, whether as a CEO, Founder, Executive, Producer, Advisor or Investor, I have remained a tireless professional with a passionate desire to inspire and support my colleagues, to deliver meaningful outcomes, and to work with creative thinkers who are fundamentally good human beings. As the father of a special needs child, I have discovered that life is too short to spend much time around anyone else.

President And Chief Commercial Officer
CurrentHaving spearheaded Super League's revenue growth from $2mm to $25mm in annual revenue, I was given the opportunity to take on a larger role in shaping the companyβs future as a leader in the immersive media space. Thanks to an energized team of talented, inspiring strategists, operators, innovators, creators, storytellers, and builders, we are among the best at what we do. Of course, we still have a lot more to get done.
Chief Commercial Officer, Evp Of Operations
When deciding it might be time to move on from WME-IMG/Endeavor, I tried something different... I thought about what I really loved doing - without any filters. If I could identify THAT, maybe I could get paid to do it! The answer was easy - I loved coaching my sonβs Little League baseball team. Super League Gaming, initially described as the βlittle league of eSportsβ, seemed to be a perfect fit. What I came to realize is that it was perfect because of the people around me. When COVID forced us to pivot away from running esports leagues, it was the character of my colleagues and the fortitude of our team that made it possible to forge a new path.Out of the esports ashes, we have built one of the leading companies bringing brands and IP owners into the immersive web, inclusive of open gaming platforms that reach more than 500mm people every month (Roblox + Minecraft + Fortnite). In 2022 alone, we ran programs with more than 85 brands in entertainment, streaming, toys, fashion, beauty, travel, leisure, sports, auto, food, retail and of course gaming. Our CEO and I closed four M&A transactions, while I also oversaw international expansion and had responsibility for revenue, partnerships, marketing, community, live events, partnerships, and content. And I became an officer of a public company.
Advisor/Consultant/Investor
CurrentI've had a few breaks in between start-ups/jobs over the years. Since I can't sit still and am not a good golfer, I've spent that time as an advisor and occasional investor, helping various companies, small and large, design and launch products, create new strategic initiatives, and otherwise shape and grow their businesses across virtually every media category and platform. Among the many benefits, doing so has led me into each new full-time opportunity. In addition to a handful of ongoing advisory roles, previous work has included support for WME, Nike, Marvel, MTV, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, TVGuide, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Seventeen Magazine, Maxim Magazine and others.

CurrentA personal guide for me always has been Jackie Robinson's quote, "A life is not worth living except in the impact it has on other lives". When I had a chance to buy a leading digital self-improvement business, it just made sense. PickTheBrain.com provides original content to help people with self-confidence, motivation and personal productivity.
Head Of Digital Operations And Marketing Solutions
After one year, as we figured out how much we could accomplish, there became a lot more to do. I was given an expanded role and had the great pleasure of overseeing a team of digital strategists, marketers, social media and community managers, paid media strategists and planners, analysts, product and project managers, content creators and salespeople located throughout the globe. The diversity and breadth of activity was as staggering as the company's meteoric growth, and just as energizing. We covered more than 350 live events and properties including NYFW, Miss Universe/USA, PBR, IMG College, IMG Academy, Miami Open, US Open of Surfing, Winter Wonderland, Taste Festivals, Frieze Art Fairs, Euroleague, Tough Mudder China...and more. We also provided comprehensive digital agency services for clients across the company - consumer brands, talent, athletes, college athletics programs and sports teams and federations. Our guiding principle was to ensure the company's digital capabilities and footprint helped achieve core business objectives. It was an awesome challenge. Some of the awesomeness:-- Going from 5mm to 20mm social followers in two years-- Launching the first mobile app and original social content for NYFW-- Creating and running partnerships with Snapchat (SC's largest live-events partnership globally for Live Stories) and Twitter (TwitterTV and Amplify)-- Participating in the formation of ELEAGUE with Turner-- Overseeing two OTT channels - M2M.tv (fashion) and Boomeo.com (eSports)-- Meeting with Keanu Reeves to talk about his social strategy and watching him act out a social video he thought would be cool to produce.Oh, and the private plane ride with Larry David. Genius. And I still never became an agent.
Head Of Digital Marketing Solutions
After several months of consulting for WME related to one of several possible mega-growth strategies, they won the bid to acquire IMG. Spending $2.4 billion definitely inspired focus. Thankfully, that focus led to a full time opportunity for me. I joined the company in a newly created position, which included three areas of responsibility: 1) Centralizing, designing and implementing the digital strategy for the company's newly acquired live-event properties; 2) Overseeing the digital marketing agencies and technology platforms within the company's portfolio; 3) Creating partnerships with leading external companies whose capabilities could enhance how WME-IMG and Droga5 addressed digital marketing challenges facing top consumer brands. The role rapidly eclipsed what we anticipated, which made for an incredible first year of digital growth and group expansion within the company. But I was never an agent.
Ceo And Glossi Founder
I originally took over as the third CEO of ThisNext, an early entrant in the social shopping space. Buoyed by promise, the company was losing money when I started. Within a year, we were cash flow positive but not on an exciting trajectory. With the help of a dedicated team, we pivoted and launched a new product - Glossi - in the Fall of 2012. An authoring platform enabling anyone to create their own digital magazine, early adoption exceeded our expectations. Glossi became a sought-after content marketing solution for companies, influencers and creators within Entertainment, Fashion, Food, Lifestyle and Travel. Our partnership with Lucky Magazine led to hundreds of thousands of teen Glossi issues, although our most popular Glossi was "What Wine Are You?" (I'm a high end Napa cab). Had a chance to present Glossi to a senior team at WME, influencing my next career move.
Ceo And Co-Founder
The first social media turned social shopping business in the self-improvement category (this is when I learned what it meant to "pivot" a business). We helped people find products and programs to help themselves. Sold to Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing in June 2009.
Co-Founder And Advisor
One of the first online destinations for original content in the comedy category. Some of what we created was really funny.
Svp, Head Of Publishing
A leading company in mobile 1.0 games and applications. My part of the organization spanned three continents and created 45+ products that fueled a 10x increase in revenue over two years. My team also structured global partnerships to bring Marvel, Billboard, World Poker Tour and About.com to mobile devices. Just as we were hitting our stride, the company had a change in executive leadership that unfortunately did not go as planned. It was time to move on.
President
My first job in digital (called "New Media" at the time). I ran operations, content and business development for the first online and mobile entertainment company targeting comic book fans, video gamers and toy collectors. We produced a terrific animated talk show with a dinosaur as a host who interviewed famous video game characters. Our most popular mobile product - by far - was a virtual Pam Anderson - PortaPam (part of our PortaPets line).PortaPets became a mild sensation on Palm Pilots (the most innovative handheld devices at the time), generating 600K downloads in six months. If only there had been a reliable billing mechanism...
Svp, Head Of Production And Development; Director Of Licensing, Toy Biz
I helped build a new film and television studio for Marvel Comics. In my first 6 mos, I read through 30 years of comic book history to help ensure the stories we wanted to tell through entertainment would be authentic and measure up to fan expectations. Across 6 1/2 years, I was involved in 20+ motion picture and television projects, including the original Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Blade and Daredevil films (all #1 at the box office on opening weekend), multiple animated series that became an anchor for Fox Kids Network, and a TV movie starring David Hasselhoff (who once told me he was going to write a book called Nice Guys Finish First). My boss (from whom I was quite lucky to learn), who was Marvel's Chief Creative Officer and a legitimate visionary, also pulled me into the businesses that were poised to thrive from success in entertainment. I was fortunate to be able to work closely with the publishing, licensing, interactive, marketing, and toy divisions to build strategically aligned programs designed to bring fans along a consistent journey, regardless of their level of engagement and how they experienced their fandom.Part of this work included being on the Founding Team of Marvel.com, which ultimately inspired my next role.
Analyst
A classic post-Ivy League school first job, before it was fashionable - or at least before I realized it was possible - to come up with an idea and start a company. I was a cog in a machine, aka a financial analyst. I learned a lot about how companies make and lose money. I also learned I didn't want a career in finance.
