Worked on a B2B e-commerce platform in a fast paced, startup like environment. Our platform is built with Ruby On Rails and ReactJS. My primary role is working on the back-end team, including API development and client systems integration, but I also often work on the front-end web interface.

As a senior consultant I worked on a wide range of projects for clients of xforty. Primarily this involved working on web projects using technologies such as Ruby on Rails or Drupal, but also involved substantial Systems Administration and IT Security projects. Some examples of my role in projects I have worked on are:* Responsible for enhancing performance as part of a team working on a high-volume photo social media site written in Ruby on Rails. Tasks included building new features, streamlining internal API calls, optimizing SQL queries and modifying their production IT infrastructure.* Part of a team which overhauled a Javascript-based, Business Intelligence for a large financial institution in order to achieve ADA compliance.* Created a mobile web application for a client, building the front end interface and Java middleware for interacting with their backend APIs. Also created mobile app wrappers for iOS and Android using phonegap.* Built an e-prescription signing platform in compliance with strict government regulations using Ruby and CouchDB. Platform included a full featured REST API, audit trails, cryptographic signatures, and 2-factor authentication.* Led team building a comprehensive feature testing suite using Javascript and Selenium for a popular TV channel’s website.* Architected and built a secure IT infrastructure for hosting PCI/HIPAA applications. Built on top of CoreOS, Docker, and AWS. Included building custom management tools in Ruby and leveraging technologies such as ELK, OSSEC, ModSecurity, Nessus, and Nagios.

Worked with the primary System Administrator at Earlham College configuring and maintaining dozens of servers running a variety of operating systems. In my job I was largely responsible for replacing and upgrading to newer systems which both required me to become familiar with pre-existing and legacy systems and be able to design and implement new systems that would improve on what they were replacing. I regularly worked with technologies such as RT, NIS, NFS, LDAP, DNS, Shell scripting, PERL, firewall management and was in charge of a number of projects. · Migrated our Web presence from a legacy server using Apache 1.x and NIS to a modern infrastructure using Apache 2.x and LDAP. · Migrated our directory server to a different software package including doing an audit of access controls and translating them, writing scripts to convert custom LDAP schema, and writing filter scripts to fix incompatibilities on-the-fly when importing data. · Installed, configured and rolled out a networked tape backup system.
