Originally scoped as a server uptime detection service to be completed over a 4 month internship, it was completed in 1 month. In the remaining 3 months took the initiative to extend the product and integrate with PlateSpin's existing physical host virtualization and management system. Allowing for autonomous recovery by bringing up a virtualized copy of an offline host, notifying users of the event over email and offering a mobile browser compatible workflow, another industry first, to manage the disaster recovery event. PlateSpin Protect would become PlateSpin's 3rd major product and be the foundation of PlateSpin's 4th product "Forge", a disaster recovery appliance. PlateSpin was acquired by Novell in March 2008 for $205 million USD. -
