About Matteo B.

I possess a strong background in the design and missioning processes ofLaunch Vehicles, specifically focusing on GNC system design, verification, and safety analysis. Additionally, my previous experience at D-Orbit has provided me with valuable expertise in sales, customer management, and product development.Currently, I hold the position of VP of Sales Engineering at D-Orbit, where my responsibilitiesencompass various aspects such as sales, customer management, business development, and establishingrelationships with launch service providers. On a daily basis, I actively contribute to platform campaigns, specifically addressing the growing market of microlaunchers both within Europe and beyond. Moreover, I am accountable for the transportation line of business, which involves in-orbit relocation, launch services, and the utilization of IOD-IOV with and without OTV.In my previous role at Rocket Lab USA, I was responsible for the development and testing of GNC algorithms. I also provided support for hardware testing and integration of the Electron launcher.Throughout this experience, I regularly interacted with NASA and FAA and enjoyed the stimulatingmulticultural environment of an innovative company. This opportunity allowed me to gain insights intothe evolving small launch vehicle market in the United States and how advancements in small launcher technology can be applied to European vehicles. Additionally, I became a trained launch operator in May 2017, handling mission analysis and real-time flight safety evaluation at Launch Complex 1 in Mahia. This involved assessing the performance of the Electron launch vehicle and evaluating Collision Avoidance (COLA) using JSPOC data.During my time at E.L.V. (formerly AVIO), working on the Vega rocket, I spent five years as part of the GNC team. I participated in the early development phases of the Vega launcher, including its maidenflight and subsequent commercial flights. My responsibilities for the Vega launcher included developing 6DoF simulators for safety analysis, managing safety campaigns, conducting trade-off analysis forhardware and algorithm evolution, and post-flight analysis to identify anomalies and non-conformances.I gained extensive exposure to the ESA and Arianespace environment and developed a comprehensive understanding of the European launcher sector. My proactive and positive nature, coupled with my strong prioritization and target-settingabilities, make me an asset to any team.
