Waive is a content marketing platform that uses machine learning to help companies predict emerging trends in their industry and then provide recommendations as to what content they should write, and where they should write it, in order to engage audiences.In the course of the 5-week S2DS data science programme, I worked as part of a team of 4 on a project at Waive with the goal of building a machine learning platform to predict emerging trends on Twitter.- Applied machine learning methods, both unsupervised (clustering) and supervised (logistic regression, random forest, SVC, gradient boosting machine), using the Scikit-learn Python package, to predict emerging trends on Twitter based on historical data.- Performed feature selection and feature engineering to identify the most and least important factors determining the rise of a trend.- Designed and developed a prototype recommendation platform that shows to the marketers the relevant Twitter trends in their industry together with a data-driven opportunity score predicting whether the interest in the trend will rise or wane.- Collaborated with the other team members through git/github.

S2DS is an intensive five-week data science workshop designed to assist academic researchers who want to transition to industry. During the programme, I worked as part of a team of four data scientists on a machine learning driven project for Waive, an intelligent content marketing start-up based in London.Lectures and training included topics from data science such as machine learning, data visualization, SQL and git/github, but also the acquisition of commercial knowledge through lessons on economics, strategy, marketing, project management, and finance.
