Electrical Product Engineer for optical line cards on telecom optical equipment in OTBU at Cisco.I support the development of new products leading the industrialisation efforts to define the design for assembly, manufacturability and testability, with the goal to reduce costs for assembly and test, while increasing the overall product quality. The main activity is led working actively with the engineering design team, from the pre-concept commit through the first customer shipment, in order to assure that the product development meets the manufacturing requirements with the goal of releasing none design defect to production. The teamwork with HW engineering people + Cisco central teams is close and the engagement starts in the early design phases in order to clearly understand their requirements and ensures that they can be met in according with the design for manufacturing rules (DFM), considering the high complexity of such electronics cards and optical products.The overall activity is performed of various and interconnected phases, starting from the follow-up of all the prototype and production phases: BOM management, PCB and materials definition, test strategy arrangement, main vendors’ assessment, trouble-shooting procedure and TOI to the Contract Manufacturer. It always involves daily contacts with optical product vendors, HW/CAD designer, test and reliability engineering and the MFG contract manufacturer counterpart, to solve problems and address manufacturing issues.Once products are launched to mass production, the responsibility becomes providing the support to them by working with design teams, quality engineers, product marketing and manufacturing engineers to address quality production issues that may impact customers. This is led being engaged in the Defect Reduction Team, monitoring production failures and debug processes, managing technical changes through ECO process, driving cost reduction and design related yield improvements.
