I feel as though I’m testament to the breadth of the design industry, working across a pretty broad range of commercial design applications.Versatility was the key word when I first started freelancing: storyboards, illustration, general graphic design led to an attitude of saying ‘yes’ to everything offered – including a mural for the Bicentennial Authority in Sydney that measured 127m (what was I thinking?!)I think my fascination for identity led to predominately brand identity projects through the 90’s and into the noughties, working direct to client to develop visual identity systems for a range of large corporate organisations. Good experience with print and production and a creative bend, opened contract opportunities – loved working with Queensland Art Gallery across merchandise, catalogues, posters, packaging, book design, gallery publications and identity systems for exhibition promotions.I’ve always enjoyed the hands on position and using different materials to find a particular communication solution, senior artist roles with Expo (when I was starting out way back in 1988) and more recently with Natureworks were fantastic experiences to work with large scale applications of public art, often without a rule book.Throughout the years I‘ve maintained a fine art practice, with group and solo exhibitions and representations across several galleries in Queensland. Some of the greatest rewards have come from mentoring students in different institutions, a position that I enjoy currently in my role with Torrens University.
