I joined the Air Force in 2007. After Basic Training, I attended a rigorous selection and attrition course to become a SERE Specialist (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape). I was one of 29 graduates from the original 1,500 applicants. Once I graduated in 2008, I became an instructor at the USAF SERE “School House,” in Fairchild Air Force Base, WA. There, I taught high-risk-of-isolation/capture members their initial SERE skill set, primarily as a field instructor. While I was stationed there, I continued my professional growth through formal and informal training courses. In late 2011 I changed duty stations to Joint Base Andrews, MD. I coordinated and conducted SERE “refresher” training to experienced aircrew members in the National Capitol Region. In May of 2014 I started working weekends at Skydive Orange, VA as a coach and free fly organizer in July 2015. In 2016, I earned my TI and AFFI ratings.
