About Matt Fitzgibbons
Matt Fitzgibbons, Instructor of Spanish/English, earned his B.A. in Spanish/Sociology from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA in 1995, and began his teaching career that fall as a Spanish Instructor at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA, a school that during his 7-year tenure was ranked as one of America's Outstanding High Schools by the U.S. News and World Report. During the summer of 1998, Matt accepted a position at the Boston Institute of Intercultural Communication, where he taught courses in English Conversation, English Pronunciation, and American Music. After his experience with the Boston Institute of Intercultural Communication, Matt decided that it was time to commit to a career in education, with a particular concentration in English and Spanish instruction, and enrolled in Middlebury College's Master of Arts in Spanish program, graduating in 2005. During the summer of 2006, Matt had the privilege of chaperoning an exchange program with a school in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and during the following summer, Matt returned to his roots as an English instructor, teaching courses in English Composition, English Conversation, and TOEFL Exam Preparation to international students at Pine Manor College. Then, during the summer of 2007, Matt relocated to Philadelphia to accept a position as a Spanish instructor at St. Joseph's Preparatory School in the city. While teaching Spanish full-time and coaching football at St. Joseph's Prep, Matt also taught English part-time to international adult students who are employed by a labor union in the city, and began studies in Educational Leadership at St. Joseph's University, to further his professional development. Finally, in the spring of 2012, Matt accepted a position to teach Spanish and ESL at Georgetown Prep, a Jesuit school just outside of Washington, D.C., where he taught and served as a Resident Assistant in their Summer English Program in the summers of 1995 and 1996.
