At Strategic Development Technologies LLC we’re helping nonprofit organizations select, deploy, and leverage new fundraising technologies- including via our own broadcasting production of on-line and hybrid fundraising events and program engagements. As fundraising capacity builders our goal is simple: to seamlessly integrate our services with each customer’s development team- provide whatever horsepower is required to help them reach their fundraising goals and execute their mission. Clients and production projects include MarinArts.org, San Francisco Historical Society, Mill Valley Arts Dealer Association, Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP), MarinLink, Wooden Boats for Veterans, Prometheus Orchestra and Symphony, Marin Shakespeare Company, and Stroke Onward to name a few.

The San Francisco Maritime National Park Association’s mission is to bring maritime heritage to life through education, preservation and philanthropy by serving as the philanthropic and educational enrichment partner for the San Francisco Maritime Historical Park, which is visited by over 4.2+ million people each year and is home to the largest national park library. The association also manages the World War II submarine, USS Pampanito, which is berthed at Pier 45 and is visited by an estimated 100,000 guests annually. Over 10,000+ youth participate in maritime history and environmental STEM programs operated by the association. • Developed the technological infrastructure to scale up philanthropic capacity to support a $2M+ organization with 50 employees. Projects include updating the donor CRM, website, email, and social media systems.• Designed and implemented the Association's virtual technology infrastructure-overhaul to support online events for the SF Maritime National Park, USS Pampanito submarine at Pier 45, and virtual fundraisers for the Association. The model is now used at other nonprofit organizations to help them execute their mission via the COVID-19 pandemic. • Cultivated relationships with a 40+ member Board of Trustees.• Implemented strategic communication strategies for the association, which included partnering with the SF Maritime Historical Park to increase awareness about San Francisco’s waterfront for the general public, philanthropic partners, and educational institutions (schools, nonprofit groups, etc.). • Served on the Aquatic Park Project committee, as a fundraiser and fiscal sponsor adviser, which is an estimated $150M+ capital project to rebuild the San Francisco waterfront at the national park.

Call of the Sea, with an annual budget of approximately $1.5-2M, has a mission to provide inclusive and equitable access to on-the-water environmental based educational programs that foster connection to watershed and ocean environments.• Created and integrated a new fundraising department including the installation of a new donor Client Relationship Management (CRM) system, website, and communication platforms, after Call of the Sea merged with another nonprofit. • Designed and implemented a successful strategic plan to finish construction of the $11M educational tall ship, known as the Brigantine Matthew Turner, after fundraising for the project stalled before my tenure. • Overcame the dependence on a few major donors by revitalizing fundraising strategies to reach new contributors which grew small gift donations annually from $50K to over $350K; increased constituents from 700 to over 2,500; tripled gala corporate sponsors; and bourgeoned major gift donors from 10 to 52.• Secured the organization’s largest contribution (nearly $1M) by leading a collaboration with the donor’s financial institution, accountants, and several board members. • Led cultivation efforts with several agency and foundation grant program officers to secure funding from supporters such as the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, California Coastal Conservancy, Conservation Fund, William H. Donner Foundation and many more.

The Graduate Assembly’s mission is to improve the lives of UC Berkeley graduate students, housed in over 100 departments, and to foster a vibrant, inclusive graduate student community. • Served as the lead architect and campaign strategist behind a referendum that raised $400M for a UC Berkeley Wellness Initiative –the largest in the UC system.• Led outreach efforts with Graduate Assembly alumni to develop the first alumni network, which included designing a database and tool management system to monitor 1,000+ Alumni. • Oversaw a fiscal budget and endowments worth over $1M.

I researched complex policy reforms in California that led to the demise of funding for extra-curricular activities and field experiences and published results in peer reviewed journals and presented at several academic conferences.

Uc Berkeley

Fitness-For-All created health and athletic opportunities for students and community members with disabilities. I founded the project to address this institutional oversight and the program became a national model. • Successfully authored fourteen grants (totaling $200,000) to support inclusive health projects including the creation of the Cal Goalball Team, the first college sports team in the nation to include students with visual impairments. • Created a university-wide network among various departments, which provided nearly $1M worth of institutional support.• Built an alliance with other advocate stakeholders including colleges, local and national nonprofits, research think tanks, Paralympics, and like-minded foundations.• Served as principle communication liaison with UC Berkeley’s Public Affairs Department for numerous media features including thirty newspaper publications (i.e. the LA Times, San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, etc.) and television specials (i.e. CBS National News, PBS, PAC 12-Network, ABC, etc.).
