Working on my PHD in economic history. To get a better understanding of early modern economic politics, I analyze peace treaties from this era. My second goal is to find ways to employ machine learning for historical research or even the broader humanities. I focus on the time between 1494 (Treaty of Tordesillas) and 1763 (Treaty of Paris). In my (sometimes too little) spare time you will find usually find me researching unordinary topics to satisfy my need for heterodox knowledge. Currently, I am most curious about the role crab claw (or Oceanic lateen if you prefer that term) sail rigs played in the Austronesian expansion into the pacific.
