As a Senior Policy Advisor in the Sustainable and Innovative Transportation Office, Transportation Policy Branch, I lead the development and implementation of policies and programs to support the transition from the transportation system of today to the transportation system of the future. Areas of focus and expertise includes electric vehicles, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, automated vehicles, and cycling.

The Provincial Transit Policy Office develops province-wide policies, programs and initiatives for public transit and manages stakeholder relationships with transit industry associations.My work here includes planning and execution of complex research to support the provincial government objective of increasing transit ridership, and the preparation of briefing notes, slide decks, reports, and advanced correspondence related to both ongoing projects and emerging issues. I also represent the provincial government in negotiations with municipal governments, transit operators, and non-profit advocacy organizations.

Developmental role in the Policy & Planning Division, Transit Policy Branch. Policy research, analysis, and review, supporting the provincial government objectives of increased transit ridership. The Transit Policy Branch develops policies and programs to support and fund public transit across the province. It also manages the relationship between the ministry and transit stakeholders, including transit authorities, industry associations, Metrolinx, GO Transit and federal and municipal governments. The policies, initiatives and investment strategies developed will support both current and long-term municipal and inter-regional transit needs, including: commuter rail and bus, municipal rapid transit, conventional bus and specialized transit. I spent six months working with the Regional Transit Policy Office, which provides oversight of the provincial transit agency Metrolinx, followed by six months in the Provincial Transit Policy Office, where my work focused on intergovernmental projects and municipal government/transit operators.

Mentored new employees to uphold high standards of customer service and adhere to operational standards. Held this position full time while attending University full time.

Intern position. Prepared a report exploring the effects of Toronto’s Green Roof By-law on industrial sector development. Tasked with both primary and secondary data collection, and case study research, including interviewing key stakeholders and conducting research on green roof policy frameworks in international jurisdictions.

Held this position at a location in Bedford NS and Toronto ON.Directed front of house operations, developed and implemented cash management procedures, resolved customer experience concerns, and implemented Occupational Health & Safety programs.

Directed shipboard shore excursion operation: preparation of marketing materials, sales, quality control, pier-side logistics, and customer experience follow-up. Coordinated operations among supporting shipboard departments, and collaborated with main office support staff to ensure continual expansion and improvement of the program.Individually responsible for $2 to $4 million annual revenues, depending on ship deployment.
