➣ Operational responsibility for 20 owned hospitals and affiliated physician practices in eight states (IL, KY, AL, TX, NV, NM, UT and WY), representing 2,168 beds, $1.21B in annual net revenues and producing 63% of the hospital operation’s EBITDA in 2017.➣ Net revenue growth over prior year of 1.8%, driven by a 0.5% growth in adjusted admissions; all while operating in many challenged and competitive environments.➣ Spearheaded the allocation and oversight of several impactful capital projects including ICU expansions, urgent care center development, new psychiatric service lines (geriatric and adult), and a dedicated orthopedic unit. ➣ Reduced the serious safety event rates in our hospitals by 93% from baseline period (2013).➣ Hospitals scored a 6% improvement in year one and a 5.1% improvement in year two on our Quality Dashboard; a measure of mortality, safety, efficiency, process of care, patient experience and nursing excellence.➣ Divested two underperforming hospitals to improve profitability, paid down corporate debt and ensured sustainability of healthcare services in those communities.

➣ Collaborated with the division President to meet or exceed yearly divisional profit objectives and quality measures by supporting the CEO’s at 15+ assigned facilities in business development, cost containment, quality performance, physician relations and leadership development.➣ Led the acquisition of the Southern Illinois Center for Healthcare; a free standing Ambulatory Surgery Center, an imaging center, a large Cardiology practice and two primary care practices.➣ Successfully acquired two free-standing imaging centers in southern IL from the InMed Corporation; adding a key outpatient service line to offerings in a highly competitive market. ➣ Converted two struggling full-service hospitals to an “outpatient-only” model to reduce cost and better match utilization in those facilities.➣ Developed and implemented a more focused ER rounding and review process to capitalize on opportunities with length of stay, quality and risk metrics.

Promoted to a Market CEO position with responsibility for managing all operations of both Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL and Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in Anniston, AL; together totaling 406 licensed beds, $196M in net revenues and 1,263 employees. ➣ Recruited entire new leadership team for Anniston, including a new CEO, CFO and CNO.➣ Conducted three successful joint venture offering periods to Anniston medical staff, attracting 45 physician partners for an investment of $6.8M and an ownership percentage of 13%.➣ Maximized physician input and participation in operations through establishment of a JV Finance Committee and Physician Leadership Council in both markets.

➣ Negotiated the $4.8M purchase of a free-standing, physician-owned Endoscopy Center in January 2010, attracting 5,700 new surgeries annually.➣ Achieved growth in Net Revenue of 26.3%, admissions of 11.8%, surgeries of 8.5% and outpatient visits of 37.3% over a two-year period (2006 to 2008).➣ Completed the first whole hospital joint venture with the medical staff in HMA’s thirty-year history in Jan 2007; 77 physician investors invested $17M+ for a 14% ownership in the hospital.➣ Led an aggressive physician recruitment campaign resulting in more than fifty new physicians joining the medical staff in numerous specialties.➣ Created Primary Care Associates and Specialty Care Associates, a physician employment division and recruited ten primary care physicians and three specialists as hospital employees.➣ Hospital was voted #1 in State of Alabama in 2005 and received the Distinguished Award for Clinical Excellence by Healthgrades, a national hospital ranking company. Hospital also received the Alabama Quality Bronze Award in 2007 for Heart Failure. ➣ Established the Clinical Affairs Program, resulting in sustainable improvements in core measures performance: AMI (100%), Heart Failure (100%), SCIP (97.15%) and Pneumonia (96.55%).➣ Achieved top quartile performance in HMA for employee satisfaction (90%), and physician satisfaction (85%).

➣ Achieved growth in admissions of 8%, ER visits of 6% and surgeries of 6% during tenure.➣ Recruited multiple physicians in specialties such as Cardiology, General Surgery, Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.➣ Obtained a Certificate of Need for Cardiac Catheterization Services from State, despite opposition from large non-profit competitor.➣ Directed several hospital expansion projects including installation of Fixed-Based MRI services, GI expansion and patient room expansion.➣ Achieved excellent patient satisfaction scores with overall rating of 99%.

➣ Served as project manager for the design and construction of a new 14,000 square foot Women’s Pavilion on the hospital campus resulting in an increase in births from 80 to 900 annually.➣ Facilitated the opening of an occupational medicine/outpatient rehabilitation facility and recruited a Physiatrist to serve as Medical Director.➣ Served as the Administrator of Riverview Home Health Agency and scored a 96 on TJC survey.➣ Negotiated a new dietary contract saving the facility more than $50,000, with significant improvements in patient satisfaction.

➣ Negotiated 20+ joint contracts including reference laboratory and laundry services.➣ Established the Physicians Purchasing Alliance for over 200 physician members, offering significant savings on practice expenditures; solicited physicians for membership in Galaxy Health Plans, LLC.➣ Developed key clinical and operational indicators for benchmarking.
