Cfd And Cad EngineerAmi Aero, Llc Oct 2019 - PresentRenton, Washington, UsDevelop and perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling using Pointwise and CFD++ to analyze clients' proposed aircraft modifications.Post-processing data and visualization is provided using tools such as Tecplot and Python scripts to support loads analyses, flight tests, and FAA design certificationDevelop CAD models from clients' design concepts using Fusion 360 for use in CFD analysis models.Support FAA aircraft icing certification through analysis using NASA's LEWICE3D program. Developed Linux shell scripts to automate icing analysis on 100+ flight and icing condition combinations.Familiar with US federal regulations, particularly CFR 14 parts 23 and 25. -
Cmm ProgrammerExotic Metals Forming Feb 2017 - Jun 2019Irvine, Ca, UsCMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operator and programmer tasked with improving and developing OpenDMIS programs for production parts or FAI (First Article Inspection). Requires interpreting drawings and GD&T to ensure all required tolerances are reflected in final reports. Simplified programming has increased production part inspection speed up to 50%.Experienced operating a Wenzel CMM with an infinitely indexable Renishaw Revo head. -
Aerospace Engineer IiUnited Launch Alliance (Ula) Jan 2010 - Apr 2014Centennial, Co, UsAs a level II engineer, I was granted greater range of autonomy to create my own solutions and conferred ownership of my products. Ownership obligates me to be personally responsible for all the work I produce and review.I excelled when given opportunities to research and develop new products. The hydrogen fuel of the Delta IV RS-68 provided many challenges in combustion heating and hazardous gas management. Adequate tools to address these issues did not exist at the time within ULA, so we made our own which was cheaper and provided results faster than any commercially available program.Increasing the capability of our group ensured we continually exceeded the expectations of our customers. Increased fidelity of plume heating and contamination environments were provided with Direct Simulation Monte Carlo analysis which we implemented through collaboration with NASA Johnson Space Center. Upgraded vehicle systems always provided the opportunity to improve supporting subsystems which ultimately increase the reliability of the entire launch vehicle. With upgraded avionics and increased thermal demands, I sought out training to utilize our CFD programs to develop a new Environmental Control System that could meet those demands. -
Aerospace Engineer IUnited Launch Alliance (Ula) Jul 2007 - Jan 2010Centennial, Co, UsNew hires are expected to hit the ground running. From day one, I was expected to familiarize myself with the launch vehicle hardware and work collaboratively with other groups to improve flight hardware. There was no delineation between the importance of products developed by new hires or experienced technical leads. My very first project was to develop venting and aerodynamic load requirements for the Atlas V 400-ISA -- an upgraded composite structure that mated the booster and upper stage -- which was designed to reduce per-unit cost and increase launch capability.Using my coursework focus on thermodynamics, I quickly found myself to be the go-to resource for convective heat transfer analysis within our group. Adding the heat transfer component to the established aerodynamics analysis eliminated or simplified downstream post-processing.
