About Matthew A. Mitchelson

🔹 Serving, Leading & Empowering: Throughout my career, I’ve remained dedicated to service and leadership, with roles spanning military, nonprofit, ministry, and coaching. As a U.S. Navy officer, nonprofit VP, and seminary student, each role has enriched my purpose.🔹 Academic Growth: My journey began at the U.S. Naval Academy (BS, Oceanography) and evolved through a BSAST in Nuclear Engineering Technology (TESU), an MS in Systems Engineering (NPS), and an MBA (USC). Currently, I’m pursuing a Master of Arts in Reformed Theology at UDTS, preparing to enter pastoral ministry.🔹 Military Leadership: As AOIC at PSNS & IMF Det. Everett, I advocate for the Navy community in PACNORWEST, recently proposing CONUS COLA for sailors. Nearing retirement in 2026, I look forward to transitioning to civilian service, continuing my commitment to the military and veteran communities.🔹 Nonprofit Service: In 2008, I founded the Lazy Lab Hunting Club, a nonprofit offering outdoor therapy for military members. Now, as VP of Operation Hunt 4 Heroes, I carry forward this mission, helping veterans find renewal in nature.🔹 Building Resilience & Faith: Inspired by the George W. Bush Stand-To Veteran Leadership Program, I’m developing a program to help service members explore resilience and faith through outdoor experiences.🔹 Youth & Sports: Coaching has been a passion since 2014. Recently, I began a coed flag football program at NCA, teaching teamwork, discipline, and biblical values. I also work with NCA’s boys’ soccer team and substitute teach with the hope of joining the faculty.🔹 Ministry: My journey of faith has led me to serve as a seminary student and to deliver my first sermon at Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Marysville, WA. I’m excited to explore future ministry roles locally and abroad, with an eye on Scotland.🔹 Family & Personal Life: My wife, Brianna, a USNA alum and Navy veteran, and I are raising our four children with a love for the outdoors and community. As a passionate outdoorsman, I enjoy teaching conservation through shared experiences in nature.Looking forward to new avenues of service in faith, community, and leadership! 🌍 #Leadership #Faith #Military
