Fulfilling a Technical Consultant Role, I was tasked with working with customers to help them configure and customise our product. The product was a real-time billing solution for the telecoms market. Configuration including defining rating plans and customer accounting structures and modifying the platform with new bespoke functionality using C/C++. For one customer, I needed to develop a bespoke portal using HTML and Java. Customers I worked with included Orange UK and Swisscom

I joined Nortel as a graduate straight from university into a software engineering role. Initially working on the DMS 100 switch focusing on billing, translations, and routing, I developed initially in Protel (in-house Pascal like language) before progressing to write newer modules in C++ and Java. This work also exposed me to telephony protocols like ETSI ISUP and BTUP as billing and routing information has to be extracted from the messaging.
