About Matthew Auerbach

With over 20 years of experience in the investment industry, I am a seasoned portfolio manager who is passionate about creating economic value for clients. Since October 2020 I have managed a market-neutral allocation of capital within the Chelodina Fund at Marble Bar Asset Management, a leading global alternative investment manager with approximately $1 billion in assets under management.My expertise lies in identifying and executing investment opportunities across developed and emerging market equities and corporate bonds, using fundamental analysis, macroeconomic research, and option strategies. I have a proven track record of delivering above-benchmark returns across various market cycles, both in long-only and hedge fund environments. I have also led the build-out of the long-only business from its inception at my previous firm, Capricorn Fund Managers, and co-managed hedge funds with an emerging market bias. In addition, I have extensive experience in business strategy, product development, and client relationship management, having established and grown the UK and South African offices of Rimar Capital, an international AI Algo Hedge Fund.As a CFA Charterholder and a Chartered Accountant in South Africa, I have a strong analytical background and a rigorous approach to valuation and risk management. I ranked 10th nationally in the accounting examination of the Qualifying Board Exams in South Africa and have received multiple honors and awards for my academic excellence.
