As an architect of Security and Compliance for VMC, I am responsible for reviewing, designing, and architecting security and compliance directly into VMware and VMC products. At the staff level, I also serve in a leadership position and provide technical and career based guidance to both the Security, Compliance, and other engineering teams within VMC. I have participated directly in compliance related audits such as SOC2, PCI DSS, ISMAP, IRAP, and some aspects of FedRamp. I use this experience to help evolve our architectures and code design to meet the requirements and controls of these compliance regimes. I also help leverage this understand to educate engineers and management on the differences between compliance and security.

I work to maintain security and compliance by design. This includes ensuring that we are striving to make compliance more standardized and organic within my product domain. I strive to continue to move the goalpost for security within my product division and to provide that support within the architecture itself.

Helped maintain and improve a highly scalable monitoring pipeline which is provided as a platform for other engineering teams. This work included peer reviewing architecture, designing new architectural improvements, and implementing complex changes while maintain stability of a complex system. I was also the compliance lead for the monitoring team and during that time we achieved multiple industry standard compliances(e.g. SOC2, PCI).

I help architect and implement solutions for maintaining clouds of all variants(public, private, and hybrid). I have mostly worked on life cycle support for cloud infrastructure dealing in networking, storage, and compute. To date, I have worked on several different initiatives within vmware to keep our technology up to the cutting edge support that Vmware is known for.

This involves working with cutting edge technologies and concepts in order to stay ahead of the large amount of cloud networks that have come online. This includes working with varying systems and understanding the infrastructures that make up a cloud.

I worked on the commodity unit servers team under John Morris. I was often responsible for picking up previous intern projects and expanding/improving upon them. I performed an exploratory project into Big Data Analytics in order to explore the large amount of data that Telogis has at it's disposal. I aided in designing a system that was both distributed and fault tolerant, the purpose of which was to aid in the ability to locate and understand bugs in the Telogis solution.
