As Assistant Coach for the Killer Bees, my duties included team budget for the season, all travel budgets, road trip itineraries, setting up team meals on the road, and submitting our team travel expense reports upon the conclusion of each road trip.I also was responsible for utilizing STEVA video software to cut and organize video for pre-scouts, post-game video (in preparation for the next day's game), and clips for lines/D pairings, and individual players. This helped our players identify areas of strength and weakness, and it was an important teaching tool for them to make improvements in their game.I also helped with the team's scouting and recruiting. I attended various events and utilized RinkNet software to submit my scouting reports and player rankings. I was solely responsible for all recruiting for our Pre-Draft tryout camp, as well as our Main Camp. This required a consistent effort in making phone calls and sending e-mails to prospective players.I helped the Head Coach make daily practice plans, and offered suggestions/alternatives based on our Pre-Scout video, in order to help the team be better prepared. I was responsible for compiling special teams video and putting together a plan for the team's Power Play and Penalty Kill units.I also served as the Billet Coordinator for the team, and was responsible for finding homes for our players. Head Coach

Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills High School

Greater Grand Rapids, Michigan Area

I was responsible for all aspects of the Kenowa Hills Varsity hockey program. I helped re-establish the hockey program's Booster Club, and worked with the Boosters to organize the team in such a manner that it would instill a sense of pride and ownership in a once proud hockey program.I built a strong relationship with the Athletic Director, who was incredibly supportive and allowed me to lay the foundations of the program in the way that I felt would best serve the school and the team. This would not have been possible without a constant line of communication, and trust. I was asked to write a proposal explaining the different areas of the hockey program that needed attention, or needed to be implemented, and the areas of the program that were outdated, or did not require as much attention. I was able to clearly, and concisely identify and describe what he had asked for, and what I wanted to accomplish with the hockey program. My off-ice duties included, but were not limited to: team budget, team/player equipment orders, team/player apparel orders, practice scheduling, game scheduling. My primary goal as the coach of the team was to focus on player development. I was fortunate to have a very strong group to work with who were willing to work and sacrifice to get better. As a result of the team's collective work ethic, we had a record breaking season in several areas. First, the team went from a 5 win season the year prior to a 15-9-1 record in my lone season as head coach. The team set records of longest win streak (10 games), most All-Conference selections (3 players), and a school/team record of All-State selections (6 players).
