I helped prepare orders taken from customers by way of engraving cups, medals and tankards both glass and silver. Also prepared giftware for customers which included engraving and also polishing to a high standard. I also learnt how to set up each of the 3 engraving machines used in the engraving process. This included setting the plate size (print area), setting the co-ordinates for the position of the engraving head and monitoring the engraving process from beginning to end. Engraving glass objects involves a different process. Create the design on a document and print the design off onto a template. This is then placed onto the glass item and heated to a certain temperature which weakens the glass making it easier to engrave. This is then placed into a glass engraver where the sand blasting technique is used to produce the final result. During my placement, I dealt with several customers from start to finish and was able to process the orders from start to finish without any supervision. While I was there I did notice an error in one of the orders taken, by one of my colleagues, which included wrong information which was corrected. Had this not have been noticed, this would have costed the business money and embarrassment to the customers.2022 (Part-time employment, April – September) Coventry Building Society Arena, CoventryDuring my time at the CBS Arena I worked a range of events, including Coventry City FC matchdays, Coventry City Players Awards dinner and on the Commonwealth games. During the matchdays, my role included serving food and drinks to corporate boxes, serving drinks from a bar and taking orders from tables. These situations, along with serving food to table during the Awards Dinner, allowed me to develop my communication skills with both the general public and my colleagues to make sure we achieved correct and efficient service.When working on the Commonwealth games, my task was to maintain high standards within the Media Lounge, Player’s Changing Rooms and Referee’s Lounge. During this time, I was required to start work early in the morning (with work often starting at 4am) and be able to complete the set up for each day, which involved cleaning the lounges and restocking food and drinks, with constant checking of these supplies throughout my 8-9 hour shifts. This experience highlights my punctuality and reliability within the work force, which is complimented by awards I have won during my time at Etone College for achieving 100% attendance for multiple academic years.
