About Matthew Bashore
My commitment to three passions guides my career as a middle school teacher: building relationships with students, making history relevant to inspire a connection to the content, and maximizing individual student performance. For 16 years, I have dedicated myself to teaching middle school Social Studies, currently teaching at amazing public middle school on Staten Island. I have truly grown as a professional, going outside of my comfort zone to push student thinking. Socratic seminars, gallery walks, station learning, and project-based learning are just a few things that go on inside my classroom on a daily basis. I also provide differentiated instruction to better meet students’ individual learning styles. One of my main goals as an educator is to develop connections with my students - without a genuine connection, what real learning can take place? Students must know that teachers are there to support them each day and accept them for who they are.
