  As a technologist, I'm responsible for making connections between what Applied Materials can offer and what our customers need. That involves understadning what our product lines include and what our development capabilities are as well as what new technologies are being explored. More importantly, it requires a close interface with my customer's engineers and engineering managers to understand their needs and then communicate those to engineering at Applied Materials. My customer is always working on the development of at least three different technologies, all with two to three generations in various stages of development. Some of our work is exploring cutting edge and some is making continuous improvements to current technologies.
