Responsibilities:* Provide on-going technical support to Area Manager, Area Planner, Engineering and field Staff* Ensure all asset renewal work is completed on time, on or under budget to the highest technical standard* Ensure work trains, service freight, materials, sub-contractors and labour resources are planned to allow the seamless delivery of all works* Provide back-up field functions as and when required and technical support * Control and maintenance of contracts and service orders* Ensure all data is up to date by the accurate and timely maintenance of contracts and projects investigating any anomalies and corrections* Ensure all contracting and reporting deadlines are met by processing data in a timely and accurate manner* Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers* Generate reports as and when required e.g. for planner / scheduler for end of monthly board report* Perform filing and file retrieval and record maintenance tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures* Assemble and submit relevant data from files and other sources of information for statistical and general reporting as and when required* Gain thorough understanding of all disciplines within the rail business unit* Ensure all work is carried out in the most effective economical manner to maximise productivity & ensure the risk of unplanned or emergency work is kept to a minimum * Contribute to and foster a positive team working environment and other duties as the company may require from time to time* On-going support the Area Manager or Track Engineer Maintenance as and when required.* Liaise with Track Inspector & Service Manager to determine priority of future works

Senior Technical Officer* To ensure technical compliance on nominated projects * Carry out survey, level & alignment design and setting out the design on the site of the renewal installation for both Plain Line and witch and Crossing Works.* Lead, direct and monitor work of direct reports* Accurately and consistently record and deliver the as-built details for inclusion in hand back documentation for health & safety files to comply with the Design, Construction and managemnt (CDM) Regulations; and to demonstrate qulality achievements to the client.* Support the Principal Technical officer to deliver projects to a successful conclusion* Deliver and manage the plan on a day-to-day basis* Deliver the Permanent-way design to time and cost effectively* Identify all potential variations to contract to the Principal Technical Officer (opportunities for added value)* Effectively manage utilisation of plant and equipment on site* Perform on-site calibration checks and identify calibration errors to the Principal Technical Officer* Ensure work is carried out to standards compliant with the company’s and Clients’ Quality Management Systems (QMS).* Motivate, mentor and develop direct reports* Produce ad hoc written reports as required by the Principal Technical Officer and standard reports as required by the company’s and Clients QMS.

Assist with the Surveying, design, setting out of Renewals works for Plain Line & Switch & Crossings within the southern region.Manage stressing works of plain line, curves, switch and crossing layouts. Other duties as directed by the line manager.
