I used the full dataset from WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) to create four full-sky maps of the mid-infrared. These maps can be combined to create a full-sky template of PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon) emission. The aim is to cross-correlate this template with the Planck map of Anomalous Microwave Emission (AME), a CMB foreground, to determine if AME is caused by PAH dust. Ultimately we want to use polarization maps to better constrain PAH foregrounds in B mode polarization experiments.The project was coded primarily in Python, incorporating techniques including parallel programming and Bayesian statistical analysis. I have also used deep learning techniques in my code. Working with the large (~60 TB) WISE dataset also required significant data management.My other research focuses included work on quasi-optical frequency selective filters, which can be used to reduce noise in future telescope designs. I spearheaded the experiment design, data acquisition and data analysis for characterizing feedhorn (antenna) beam profiles for millimeter wave experiments. I designed experimental setups for these projects using SolidWorks, a CAD software program, and took sensitive data measurements on a Vector Network Analyzer.The lab I worked in is a cryogenic lab, testing detectors that operate under superconducting conditions. I am trained to work with liquid helium and liquid nitrogen.

Worked with the X-ray Astrophysics group on three projects. The first project was an analysis of optical Hubble data to find optical counterparts to X-ray sources in local elliptical galaxies. The second project was an application of X-ray stacking analysis to hundreds of galaxies in the Chandra Deep Field South. The final, minor project was working on updating the group webpage.Languages used were Python, IDL and HTML.

Under the supervision of Professor Emeritus Denis Weaire, I was tasked with renovating the displays of old physics laboratory apparatus throughout the entire School of Physics. I also compiled an online catalogue of all the instruments on display, with each entry accessible via QR codes on smart phones.
