I love working in Adult Social Care, it's all about people and what we can do together to make life better, and overcome the obstacles. I am currently a commissioner working on Birmingham's Prevention First Vision, supporting citizens to lead happier, healthier, lives in their own homes and communities. I believe in the power of communities and focusing on what's strong rather that what is wrong.My early experience in social care were with citizens with mental health difficulties and learning disabilities employed by both voluntary sector and health organisations. Over subsequent years I've had a wide range or roles in local authority settings; from hospital social worker, community based social work, developing practice for Direct Payments and Personal Budgets, business transformation roles, citizen involvement and coproduction. I have also done a little bit of Social Work Practice Education.
