Profile bio

About Matthew Bizer

I am a PhD candidate in civil & environmental engineering at the University of Connecticut. My interdisciplinary research is focused on science-policy interactions, resilience, adaptation, and innovation in public water resources infrastructure, using both qualitative and quantitative methods. In collaboration with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, I am working on my dissertation on the development of resilience-building changes in the public wastewater sector over time, and how and why they become transformational or remain incremental. I intend to complete my PhD in May 2025 and am seeking post-PhD employment opportunities in state environmental agencies, nonprofit organizations/NGOs, or environmental consulting. I have a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Florida, and a varied professional background that also includes laboratory research (in several scientific fields), politics, organizing, and fundraising.

Listed skills include Research, Logical Approach, Problem Solving, Calculus, and 18 others.
