My first memories of a computer were with a lovely blue machine called the iMac G3. Ever since I was kid I was detail oriented and loved technology.Given my temperament, people would have thought that I would have immediately gone into technology, but there was a problem: I didn't like math. Something interesting though happened in high school while doing volunteer work at a non-profit's garden. We needed to install sprinklers, and their spray needed to cover as much of the plants as possible, so my friend brought his trigonometry skills to bear. At that moment math, logic, and human ingenuity became exciting tools to solve problems and to help other people.The beauty of software development is that it is alive. I like to think of it as "incarnated human logic". It is truly amazing that my thoughts encoded as bits and bytes on a hard drive and executed on a CPU touch and improve the lives of users every day. Humanity and its problems are messy though, so when tackling its problems, it is incredibly rewarding to see how a well thought-out design can continue to be extended and maintained with constantly shifting requirements. Software design patterns, SOLID principles, and testability are always considerations for the code that I write--and of course above all to reduce complexity and help my team!With a passion for extensible software design, five years of experience in IT, and a graduate background in clinical informatics I hope to be a great asset to the team, the company, and the users that I serve. I hope the next pleasant surprise you get as a user of my software will be because before you knew it, I had you, dear user, in mind before I put thought to bit.
