While working as an actuarial contractor for MBE I was hired as an Associate Director. I concluded my contract in the UK with one of our life insurance clients and relocated back to Cape Town.On the 1 March 2016, I was supported by the UK office in opening the South African office of MBE in Cape Town. During my work experience in the UK I was based at a medium sized life insurance company and gained a lot of Solvency II experience. I tested new functionality included in the Prophet Asset Liability Strategy (ALS) Library for the client. This functionality was needed in order to calculate the matching adjustment as well as provide the necessary asset and liability cashflows for the projected balance sheet. I also managed two teams that were responsible for delivering the Prophet and Spreadsheet model developments needed for Solvency II. This included keeping management up to date, ensuring deadlines were met, communicating with the various teams impacted by the changes and ensuring the new developments were tested and bedded down into the business as usual process.
