1 - Business Management • Lead, develop, deliver and execute the business plan for all operating units/offices including (a) Pavements Design and Asset Management (b) Trackform Design and Asset Management (c) Asset Investigation and Surveys and (d) Geophysics, Geomatics and Monitoring• Ensure that the Business Unit has appropriate management structure, governance standards and functional support• Take responsibility for the preparation and dissemination of all internal communication within the Business Unit2. Office Director in the transportation/civil infrastructure sector, overseeing service delivery by a team of 70 staff (including site, office), a UKAS accredited operational laboratory and a range of field equipment in the pavement, trackbed, material and geophysics disciplines.I maintain overall responsibility for performance and HSQE governance/audit, providing leadership in bidding, business strategy development and implementation, work winning, technical delivery and review, client account and human resources management. My roles include- Business/project management - P&L account management, project forecasting, commercial review and business performance reporting. This includes bid, project and framework management for projects of a range of size and complexity. - Marketing and Business Development – including Client Account Management in line with the annual business plan and strategy. - Overall responsibility for project delivery, however his technical specialism was in site investigation, trackbed design, materials optimisation and asset management. - An extensive knowledge of geophysics and geotechnical engineering principles in the railway industry. - A fundamental understanding of soil and environmental chemistry has been strengthened by extensive laboratory and in situ testing in the fields of soil mechanics, site investigation and water/waste water engineering. - This is further complemented by a detailed understanding of the operational railway and maintenance /renewal of the Permanent Way.
