SEDS at NC State is North Carolina State University's chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space. Our collective goals include expanding the networks of interested students, advocating for the expansion of the space industry and educating people about such benefits, and inspiring students through involvement in space-related projects - most recently a Martian Rover. The Martian Rover project adheres University Rover Challenge (URC) rules and is competing in 2025.• Lead the Mechanical Subteam, responsible for designing, manufacturing, and organizing the development of the drivetrain and robotic systems of our Martian Rover project• Attended SpaceVision 2024 with 13 club members in Denver, Colorado to network with industry leaders and with other SEDS members• Foster a learning environment targeted at building the leadership & technical skills of all club members• Design a claw system for the Martian Rover's robotic arm using a worm-gear-based mechanism• Develop a 5 degree of freedom (DoF) robotic arm using a top-down approach - starting with the claw system and make all subsequent design decisions based off of the applied loads & torque of each "section"• Design a rocker-bogie suspension system for 6 polystyrene wheels capable of traversing rough Martian-like terrain with other team members
