About Matthew Cannon

I am a Shareholder in the Chicago office of Greenberg Traurig, and began working at GT in 2013 after spending almost eight years as a federal prosecutor. My practice focuses on a wide-range of criminal and civil litigation, investigations, and FCPA compliance and investigations. My litigation practice includes handling federal and state False Claims Act matters, securities fraud matters, white collar criminal defense, and business dispute litigation. While serving as a federal prosecutor, I spent a significant amount of my time prosecuting war zone crimes, i.e. bribes, kickbacks, Major Fraud, etc., in relation to the conflicts in Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. This included both criminal and civil work. Overall, I have been a lawyer practicing litigation for more than 25 years.

My work also included working on FCPA related matters, including being one of the prosecutors who worked on the $54 million FCPA resolution that involved an ADM subsidiary.Served as the first chair in numerous trials, and also handled a wide-range of federal prosecutions related to the Clean Water Act, Project Safe Childhood, public corruption, money laundering, and other white collar mail and wire frauds.
