Since joining DfE in 2013 I've worked on a number of projects including a campaign to encourage more young people to study STEM subjects at GCSE and A-Level (called the Your Life campaign - https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/your-life-maths-and-science-campaign-launched) as well as organising the Pupil Premium Awards in 2016 and 2017 - the awards recognised schools for the effective and innovative ways they spent their Pupil Premium funding (https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/teachers-exceptional-work-praised-pupil-premium-awards and https://www.gov.uk/government/news/pupil-premium-awards-finalists-announced).For the last 7 years I've worked on DfE's Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme - managing the programme through the pilot phase (2018-2020) right through to designing the policy, guidance and grant conditions and programme framework for the national rollout in 2021. The HAF pilot began as a £2m programme in 2018 and in 2021 was successfully rolled out in every local authority in England.Over £200m of funding is in place for HAF for each of the next three years - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/holiday-activities-and-food-programme.My team and I are responsible for the HAF programme policy, finance and communications.
