I have 8 months experience as an intern in the environmental consulting field in two positions; one that focused on marine work and one on terrestrial work. Therefore, I bring multiple different skills to any environmental role. The marine work included 6 months of consulting for the marine sector — using chemistry and physics knowledge — for several different clients. The clients ranged from local to large international clients. I took part in the company activities outside the office as well.The second position was terrestrial, where I used satellite imagery and machine learning. Using the satellite imagery skills I learned during my Master's dissertation, combined with GIS and Google's machine learning API, I created a live map of the Cape Town region that showed how different plant and land cover types change over time.I've also worked for NOAA, USA's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as a consultant for approximately a year. I boarded container ships to work as a solo scientist crossing the Atlantic Ocean while doing frequent measurements for their ongoing research. I am currently working in the carbon analyst/ESG sector as a climate and carbon analyst/consultant, because it is important to understand in the current climate.
