CurrentAs the Chief Zoning Compliance Officer for the City of Myrtle Beach, I lead a dedicated team within the Zoning Division, ensuring our city’s growth and development align with both local ordinances and broader economic goals. My role bridges the gap between city regulations and the community’s evolving needs, guiding developers, business owners, and property owners through complex zoning codes and permitting processes.Key Responsibilities:-Team Leadership & Management: Direct and allocate tasks for a high-performing zoning team, prioritizing key projects across the city to ensure efficiency and compliance.-Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a liaison between the city and its residents, developers, and business community, providing clear guidance on zoning regulations and contributing to the City’s economic and aesthetic development.-Planning & Ordinance Evaluation: Partner with the City’s Planning Division to review and refine ordinances, offering insights that balance regulatory compliance with economic growth opportunities.-Code Enforcement & Legal Representation: Oversee the review of development plans to ensure zoning compliance, issue court summons for violations, and represent the city in criminal court proceedings.-Public Presentations & Reporting: Prepare and deliver detailed presentations to various boards, committees, and City Council, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making.-Nuisance Property Management: Investigate and manage cases related to nuisance properties, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the community.-Process Improvement & Training: Lead the adoption of new technologies and processes to enhance efficiency, while developing training programs to onboard new employees effectively.In my role, I ensure that Myrtle Beach’s zoning codes, which form the economic blueprint of the city, are implemented effectively and contribute positively to the city’s growth and quality of life.
