Performing research and development work for an embedded systems product involving wireless technologies.

As a Teaching Assistant in the Electronics and Computer Engineering department, I provide tutoring for students and assist with running and marking assessments.

I worked with the UC Rocketry research group on aspects of a project using controlled flight of a glider to form part of a commercial product. The work resulted in experience developing an Inertial Navigation System and working with RC radio systems. MATLAB was used extensively in processing motion data gathered during tests.

During my time as a summer scholarship intern in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at University of Canterbury, I worked to upgrade aspects of a model helicopter embedded systems control project for use in the ENCE361 course in 2017.Two main tasks were:1. Migration of a complex embedded system application from the Stellaris EVK (with Cortex M3 core microcontroller) to the Tiva C Launch Pad EVK (with Cortex M4 core microcontroller). This work included design and assembly of a new PCB to interface the microcontroller EVK board with signals from the model helicopter system and from an FTDI module.2. Design and development of a software simulator for the model helicopter system. This involved formulating component mathematical models for system using a control system theory approach, and performing tests on the model helicopter to determine characteristic parameters of the proposed model. Results:The embedded system application was successfully migrated to the new microntroller system, and the model helicopter system worked as required during the ENCE361 course in 2017.A working control system model of the model helicopter system was completed, and used as part of an assignment in a new embedded systems course in 2017, ENCE464.

During a summer internship at Tait I worked on aspects of build software using CMake in a Linux environment. I also participated in Agile development methods with members of the build software team.
