Responsible for completing daily Quality Assurance (QA) activities – focusing on identifying failures in Agent customer calls. In the final internal newsletter before I left the BBC the managing editor described me as stalwart who was dependable and passionate. During this time I was responsible for managing a studio working in the radio operations room on a daily basis. I was ultimately an integral part of the production team on the Northern Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire’s most listened to Breakfast Show. Through team working I had to prioritise my tasks and also multitask efficiently in order to maintain the smooth operation of a programme. My responsibilities included: managing and organising the busy radio “operations room”; liaising between presenters, producers and journalists; and assisting with breaking news stories. This busy role required me to be adaptable under pressure, work as part of a team,. I had to make the best use of the limited resources available within BBC Local Radio that has made me a very resourceful character. The station’s listening region includes a number of significant political figures. And during my time with BBC Radio Humberside I was given the responsibility of “meeting and greeting” a number of them, including John Prescott, the Health Secretary Alan Johnston and the conservative leader David Cameron. At all times I maintained the highest standards of professionalism, and strived to make their experience as a pleasant an experience as possible. Producing shows requires me to seek new contacts for information and specialist knowledge depending on a topic of a programme. This meant e-mailing external companies, and for some people my point of contact may have been their first ever communication with the BBC so I always communicated in a pleasant and professional manner that would give the correct first impression of the corporation.
