Collaborates across R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and QA to ensure efficient commercial transfer of products from R&D to manufacturing. Supervises staff to ensure successful and timely product development of microfluidic point-of-care blood testing systems.

Leadership role in creating and optimizing designs for microfluidic devices, and in optimizing manufacturing processes, including injection molding, surface treatment, bonding, and reagent loading.Interface with suppliers of injection molded microfluidic components and high-precision metal molds made by conventional and microfabrication/MEMS processes.Develop and execute functional tests for plastic microfluidic devices.Supervise a team of engineers responsible for process development, component design, process validation.

My PhD research concerned manufacturing processes and equipment for producing micro-devices from polymers at the MIT Center for Polymer Microfabrication and the Lab for Manufacturing and Productivity.

Over 6 weeks, I rotated through the manufacturing engineering division that oversees the production of F-16 fighter jets. I participated in reviewing engineering change requests related to problems that were discovered during assembly. I also served in a team of engineers based on the factory floor that was responsible for identifying root causes and developing solutions for production problems as they arose.

I analyzed part flow across several machines to help identify part families as part of a project to reorganize the factory into cells. I also designed transitional factory floor layouts that were later implemented. I proposed design changes for a high-volume part to eliminate an operation on an old, slow machine, to reduce de-burring time and manufacturing cost. After investigating the effects of the proposed changes on function, assembly, and maintenance, I submitted a formal engineering change request. My suggestions were later implemented.
