This role afforded me an opportunity to learn New Zealand Sign Language. I will always feel a great sense of appreciation for the support I received from both hearing and Deaf colleagues in learning as much as I possibly could about this truly wonderful and precious Taonga we know as NZSL.My role, in essence, was primarily to act as a bridge between the hearing and Deaf worlds.I was trained up to provide Hearing Assistive Technology Assessments to mitigate fire risk in the homes of Deaf and hard of hearing people. I also had a focus upon advocacy with members of the New Zealand Deaf Community in supporting them towards both vocational and employment related goals.

Supporting people living with injury, illness or disability into paid employment. This was an extremely rewarding role in which I was privileged to be involved with life-changing outcomes for the amazing people I had the opportunity to work alongside. In the short time I was employed with Workbridge I learned a tremendous amount of new skills from the colleagues I worked with.
