Magictecture embarked on the ambitious endeavor to construct the most advanced backyard rollercoaster known, and I was brought on to manage the metal manufacturing and electrical design/implementation for the entirety of this project. I oversaw the development and installation of all the electrical components necessary for the operations of the coaster so that it would be safe and reliably operational by the deadline, opening day. I oversaw the development and installation of all the electrical components necessary for the operations of the coaster so that it would be safe and reliably operational by the deadline, opening day. This required that I oversee the design and installation of the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller that is the control panel that runs the entire coaster), the Animatronic (that moves and talks), the "laser" target system (at which the rider can shoot with their "gun" to trigger different sequences), the safety system with over 30 sensor/solenoid modules, and any other electronics necessary for the functionality of the rollercoaster. Simultaneously, with the metal fabrication team that I organized and directed, over a 2 month period we manufactured almost 1000 feet of track along with the rollercoaster carts, a pneumatic launch, and all other metal mechanical components. I was hired to completely design, 3d print, and automate the head and torso of the Yeti similar to the one found on the large Matterhorn at Disneyland. I utilized fusion 360, my 3d printer, Arduino, and C++ to create this mechatronic Yeti. I made it so that its jaw would open and roar, it could articulate its head in any direction using servos and a custom-designed omnidirectional hinge, while the torso could pivot back and forth using CNC machine ball-screws.
