Worked as a research assistant on the development of a wildfire mapping system based on ad-hoc wireless sensor networks. Performed extensive research through related literature search on the current wildfire detection systems and image processing. Defined and modeled a detection methodology using IR sensor technology to providing accurate identification of the wildfire intensity. Implemented a MATLAB software simulation including mathematical models of the sensor technology, detection capability, and image processing techniques which provided a proof of concept for the overall system.
