Performs detailed optical engineering designs and communicates those designs to the customer and works with internal CIENA organization. Performs network and applications engineering for multiple CIENA products, including 6500, WaveServer.Completes complex network designs for customer applications of CIENA networking products.Proficient in the use of Ciena Network design and modeling tools and in particular One Planner.Consults with various organizations inside customer accounts on application of CIENA products for next generation architectures.Prepares quotations and assist in proposal preparation for Ciena products & upgrading actual design.Provides product and technical expertise to support Sales efforts of Ciena products.Prepares complex design and applications presentations.Interfaces with sales group and product management / marketing to develop and/or propose product enhancements to meet customer requirements.Technical expertise of fiber optic transmission systems (especially DWDM, ROADM and SONET).Telecommunication networks, storage networks and network management.Understanding of backbone longhaul transport, metro DWDM, optical evolution and packet transport.In-depth knowledge of optical transport systems.Experience working with or within the US Cable MSO industry. Reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM).
