Formed international strategic partnerships India, Bulgaria, Africa, Middle East, including Dubai. Expanded and registered an infrastructure and commodities business in partnership, in DRC. Secured an infrastructure business opportunity in Africa to design and construct a Greenfield project.

Nature of Business: Global Industrial group with leading brands in the automotive, construction, mining, logistics, fleet, car, van and truck rental, materials handling and agriculture.Achievements: Ensured the SA business and Southern African business were leaders in sustainability – through growth and increased profitability. Improved Barloworld’s image from 2007 (PIC a major shareholder published a newspaper article tainting Barloworld’s image) in the marketplace which included transformation (B-BBEE) from 121 to 12th on the JSE, as well as holding position number 1 in the sector. Published a conceptual paper on Diversity and Inclusion and Localisation and why the Group should not only on focus on transformation in South Africa but should change its strategy and include all of its operations across the globe. Barloworld subsequently adopted the strategy and hence was able to sustain the project team to get Caterpillar to invest in the country and helped improve the skills set of the local suppliers and staff in the manufacturing and sub-assemblies. Siyakhula’s is the primary vehicle for supplier and enterprise development of the Barloworld South African operations. Through comprehensive support programmes aimed at empowering small, micro and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs), Siyakhula promotes B-BBEE, not only within Barloworld, but the broader South African society. Since inception, Siyakhula has invested spend of over R335 million with assistance provided to 250 SMMEs, indirectly sustaining over 1 730 jobs. Was responsible for setting up strategic partnerships with Standard Bank (for additional loans for growth of SMMEs), the DTI – setting up an incubator hub with over 250 small businesses, and the South African Supplier Diversity Council.

After one year was appointed as Financial Risk Manager of the Avis Group, having been promoted from Regional Sales Manager - Inland. In the first year at Avis 2000 - won the Region of the Year Award for Senior Management. Received an award For Excellent performance at Avis in December 2000 won a trip to Cape Town. .

Best performing region. Responsible for setting up Home loans for Cashbank South Africa. Responsible for implementing the credit policy.

Best performing Region. Reduced the properties in possession by 30%. Losses on sale of property where substantially below the budget in a very tight economic climate.
