I joined Generation-e's support team as naive "engineer" thinking I was going to walk in as one of the smart guys, boy was I wrong. Generation-e opened my eyes, gave me the tools that I needed to succeed, and dropped me smack bang in a group of some of the smartest people in the world. I was thrust into the complex back end infrastructure of Lync 2013, Exchange 2013, Windows Server 2012 R2, Office 365, the infancy of Azure and given 50 hours of the driest videos to watch on SIP. I learnt more in my first two years in Generation-e than I had ever learned before and it was incredible being able to test, deploy and utilise the latest technologies and see how they would impact the future of working.Some of the things I'm proud of:• Automated as many existing manual processes as I could. No one likes doing the same thing over and over again - thats what computers are for! Introduced me to the world of PowerShell.• Migrating countless small business to Office 365 for mail and files. Being part of the demise of Windows Small Business Server.• Planned and deployed Solarwinds N-Central as a replacement for PRTG with significant custom monitoring sensors written to monitor our clients Skype for Business platforms.• Began developing lasting connections with clients that at times were instrumental in retaining or regaining service contracts.
