A driven change-agent in education who has demonstrated the ability to lead teachers into the new era of education through building trustworthy relationships. Focused on motivating educators to excel in their abilities and improve through continuous education and self-reflection. I believe leadership is a relationship-based concept, and the foundation of this relationship is trust. Without trust, systems fail, costs rise, and morale dwindles. With trust, systems grow, costs fall, and relationships thrive. Trust is the most important trait a leader can have, and this trust is developed through character and competence. With this, I believe that in this role for which I am applying, I will have the trust of the staff to lead effectively. Leadership is a behavior. It has no beginning or end. In every moment of one's life, leadership is created or wasted. In education, leadership doesn't start when a bell rings or end when the school gates close. Educational leadership does not take place in a vacuum. It starts with the individual and the way he or she chooses to act as the leader of their own consciousness, and that ultimately extends to others. How you treat yourself is how you treat others. It is clear to me that leadership is not monopolized by the individual, rather leadership is concerned with the performance of the group for which the leader is responsible. You may not see the results of an educational leader by sitting in his or her office, but a walk through the hallways will highlight the results. I believe that strong educational leaders must envision a future, engage in tough decisions, and execute a plan to lead the organization on the path to success. I believe leaders need to think long term and ultimately lead others to out-perform themselves.
